This comes a day after the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, said NATO has facilitated the safe passage of Taliban leaders to Kabul for talks with the Afghan government. The spokesman for Afghanistan's High Council for Peace tells VOA there have been "unofficial" discussions between the Afghan government and the Taliban. Bryali Helali says these talks have been in Kabul, other areas of Afghanistan and even other countries. He says Taliban officials are protected during these discussions. The protection was provided not only by the international security forces, but as well as the government of Afghanistan," said Helali. "This is something routine that is happening in Afghanistan." Helali's comments Saturday come a day after the top commander for the international forces in Afghanistan, U.S. General David Petraeus, said NATO is facilitating the safe passage of Taliban leaders to Kabul as part of the alliance's support for President Hamid Karzai's reconciliation efforts. Officials have not released details of any security arrangements. People in Asia woke Friday to news of the death of Michael Jackson, an American pop icon who left behind fans throughout the region. The music sounds like the 1983 Michael Jackson-Paul McCartney duet, "Say, Say, Say." The singer though is China's top rocker Cui Jian, who recorded this cover in the 1990s. Throughout Asia, people were saddened by news of the death of the pop superstar. In Taipei, Claire Chen said she at first did not believe it. Chen says her sister called her Friday morning and told her the news. She says she thought Jackson was going back on tour soon, but after she realized the singer was indeed dead, she went to watch all of his s on YouTube.“今天一早我打电话给我,她说你听到这个消息吗? In Seoul, 49-year-old Jung Ji-Sun remembers he was able to become wealthy, even though he was black, because he was a brilliant singer. Jung says she remembers songs like "Billie Jean" and "Beat It." She says she used to imitate his gestures and moves during aerobic dance sessions. He says all Chinese musicians have at least heard the American singer's songs. At the same time, he says it has been hard for Chinese fans to separate the man from the music. Wang says many Chinese people don't like how the black singer lightened his skin, in what they saw as an unnatural effort to become white. Although that is one of the strongest memories Chinese people have, Wang says they also will remember Jackson's dancing and the unique way he sang. Wang says although another person may try to sing a Jackson song, he will never be able to give it the same feeling. 06/75821Reports that a large convoy of Moammar Gadhafi's supporters has fled Libya for Niger have angered many in the Libyan capital. As the reports sp, so, too, did speculation that some of the Gadhafi loyalists may be headed on to Burkina Faso, which has offered safe haven to the ousted leader. Burkina Faso has straddled the line on events in Libya, recognizing the National Transitional Council, but also willing to flout its obligation to the International Criminal Court, which has issued an arrest warrant for Gadhafi on war crimes. Jalal al Galal, a spokesman for the provisional authorities, says the NTC wants Gadhafi to stay in Libya. The NTC has made it very clear all along that they requested from all the neighboring countries not to aid and abet criminals on the escape. General Motors is among several global auto companies hoping to tap the potential of emerging markets like India. Executives at General Motors in India were enthusiastic when they recently revealed a new version of the compact Spark Chevrolet, which runs on liquefied natural gas. The company, which has filed for bankruptcy in the ed States, says it is business as usual in India. General Motors entered the Indian market in 2003, and sold nearly 66,000 cars last year - up 10 percent over the previous year. That is still way behind the market leader, Maruti Suzuki, which sells more than 10 times that number. General Motors, however, is hoping to expand its footprint in India. Last year, the company commissioned a new plant with a capacity to produce 140,000 cars. It says it is confident of raising funds for its expansion, and has no plans to reduce its 40,000-strong staff in India. Yogendra Pratap, editor of the Auto Bild magazine in India, says the company has good reason to be optimistic. Sales are expected to grow strongly in the coming years in a country where only seven out of every 1,000 people own a car, and where the economy is growing despite the global recession. The planning for these companies has always been for the long term, to get market share and be in a position to exploit the market once the market is up and running," said Pratap. "India is still in its infancy, so all these companies want to be positioned right once the Indian car market matures."“对这些公司来讲,它们的计划都是长期的。 Like several other automakers, General Motors is pinning its hopes on the compact car segment, which accounts for four out of every five cars sold in India. Besides the latest version of the Spark, it is introducing a new mini car later this year to compete with other popular small cars. Pratap points out that these cars are very different from the ones General Motors sold in the ed States. They have got a very strong product portfolio to do well in India. They are small cars, they are fuel efficient, they are not the huge suburban kind of trucks they sell in the U.S," said Pratap.“在印度,它们的产品优势非常明显。 General Motors is not the only global automaker which has been making inroads into the Indian market in recent years. Companies such as BMW, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nissan and Audi have also made investments in the country, hoping to gain a foothold in the Indian car market. Major European Interest Rate Cuts Fail to Rally World Markets美国四百多万人领取失业救济补助Continued economic weakness has led to another round of interest rate cuts in Europe, while the number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits has reached a 26-year high. For the third time in as many months, the European Central Bank has slashed interest rates - this time by three-quarters of a percent, the largest cut in the currency bloc's 10-year history. Central banks in Britain and Sweden cut interest rates even more aggressively. ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet says Europe's anemic economic performance has greatly reduced any risk that lower interest rates will kindle inflation. There is increased evidence that inflationary pressures are diminishing further," he said. "The decline in inflation rates is due mainly to the fall in commodity prices and the significant slowdown in economic activity largely related to the global effects of the financial turmoil." In the ed States, new claims for unemployment benefits moderated slightly last week, but still remain at levels indicative of a contracting labor market. Overall, more than four million Americans are receiving unemployment benefits, the largest number since 1982. Massive job cuts are no longer limited to America's battered financial sector, according to Deutsche Bank's chief U.S. economist, Joseph Lavorgna. The U.S. economy and, to a larger extent, the global economy just completely shut down," he said. "And companies are freezing all of their hiring, and in many cases laying workers off because demand [for their products] has completely collapsed." The Commerce Department provided further evidence of reduced demand for goods, reporting a 5.1 percent decline in U.S. factory orders for October, the biggest drop in eight years. In addition, with the exception of bargain outlets, U.S. retailers are reporting weak sales figures for November. Rising food prices and the fear about losing your savings, losing your job, has all kicked in [intensified], and people are learning how to just say 'no' [to non-essential purchases]. December sales will be miserable," said retail analyst Candace Corlett. Many economists trace the economic slowdown to a credit crunch sparked by a wave of home foreclosures and mortgage defaults in the ed States. To help spur lending, resuscitate America's moribund housing sector, and boost the economy as a whole, the Federal Reserve has aggressively cut interest rates during the past year. Yet, with interest rates aly at historically-low levels and no evidence of a pick-up in the housing market, the Treasury Department is reportedly crafting new, creative means to force mortgage rates even lower. Under one option, the federal government would invest in securities that finance loans for home purchases, stipulating a significantly reduced interest rate. The plan appeals to financial analyst Greg McBride."Lower mortgage rates are designed to put more buying power in the pockets of prospective home buyers," he said. "That helps anybody who is trying to buy a house, but it also helps people who are trying to sell them."But analysts point out the idea would do nothing to lower mortgage payments for existing homeowners who are in danger of default.200812/58008上饶韩美医疗整形美容医院去胎记多少钱

A White House economic advisor says there is an "overwhelming" need to do more to spur U.S. job creation and solidify a fragile economic recovery. The comment follows a disappointing monthly unemployment report that showed continuing job losses in the ed States. Less than a year after President Barack Obama signed into law the biggest economic stimulus package in U.S. history, the head of his Council of Economic Advisers says additional measures are needed. The sense that we need to do more is overwhelming," Christina Romer said on A's This Week program. She said key elements of last year's 7-billion stimulus package - like unemployment benefits and aid to state governments - should be extended. But Romer also called for new measures like tax incentives for businesses to hire new workers and cash rebates for people who make their homes more energy efficient. Friday, the U.S. Labor Department reported a net 85,000 job loss in the ed States last month, with unemployment holding steady at 10 percent. The numbers were a disappointment to economists who had held out hope that December might have recorded the first net job gains seen in the ed States in nearly two years. 201001/94432 Have job losses hit bottom? America's job market is bleak and some experts are saying more bad news is yet to come.. 240000 jobs loss last month, that brings total job losses just this year up to 1.2 million, our unemployment rate now stands at 6.5%. Let's bring CNN Christine Romance, Christine, the highest level since 1994. That's right. And those jobs lost so many this year, just ten months 1.2 million jobs lost and half of those coming in just past three months. So what that tells us is there is a rapid deterioration in the economy in the labor market and it is quickening its pace right now in terms of the weakness that we were seeing. Job's loss pretty much across the board, you got anything related to the housing, anything related to the consumer, anything related to the finance, losing jobs. The fact that the unemployment rate now stands at 6.5% may make some economists rethink next year's target. They were talking about 7% maybe 8%, for next year, we are getting there quite quickly with these kinds of numbers every month again and again. 240000 jobs loss this month that is probably worse than people expected. Is there an end to it, is this the bottom to it?This isn't the bottom. And I don't think that is a controversial statement. A lot of economists think that we were seeing the beginning of what would become a new norm in the labor market and that would be hundreds of thousands of jobs lost every month. That is what a recession looks like. And this kind of number this month, tells a lot of economists that maybe we are aly in that recession, we don't really ever know untill after or in it. There was a pack of the strength, goverment jobs, the goverment jobs increased. You saw health care jobs, and 7000 jobs created in mining. But economists will point out to you that when you got the goverment creating jobs, consistently creating jobs, that is not a sign of strength. A health care job, some of those are very low paid health jobs and they are replacing highly paid manufacturing jobs that were supporting middle class families. Some of those health jobs don't have health insurance, they are more like janitorial jobs, home health care jobs, doctor jobs can't be outsource, people who run the equipment in hospital can't be outsource, those are good jobs. So people who are worried looking for choices, for career choices, health care has been a consistent grower. You know we've heard, president elect Barrack Obama on the campaign trail saying job creation, job creation, job creation. This makes that call that much more urgent, but that much more difficult as well.It really does. I think a lot of people are looking to him to fix it, and to grow jobs. But let's remember that a president doesn't grow jobs, the president with congress put the policy in place that allow the economy to grows, so the private sector, the private sector can grow jobs. what a lot of folks are telling me is this is not gonna be a case of president growing job, this is gonna be a case of the president and his team trying to mitigate what could be a very ugly situation for . There are a lot of topics as well about some sort of depression air public works programme. You have, just today, Ford anouncing more lay off there. You've got hundreds of thousands of skilled manufacturing workers and construction industry workers who are out of work. And there is something coming in down the pack to replace those jobs without some sort of retrainning. There is a talk among a lot of economists that the president and his team should have some sort of big infrastructure spending programme to get people to work. The drawback as it takes a very long time to start those jobs, but now economists tell me if you have a weak job market for next year, maybe into 2010. Well you don't have to worry about the lag, because you still are gonna get those people to work.Yeah, you have to get them employed, we leave there, Christine, thank you so much, for again the unemployment right now, 6.5%.200811/55740上饶快速祛黄晒斑哪家医院好上饶市第五人民医院打瘦腿针多少钱
